What is innovation?
Is it the Eureka moment, or the process that brings new products that people will want and buy? Despite all the hype, we have yet to find a definition that we really like. What we do know is that innovation is essential to the success of new products. Innovation allows you to stand out in your industry and not drift into the vicious cycle of competing on prices, it allows you to grow into new markets, and it even allows you to enhance peoples' lives!
Innovation is who we are and what we do. We innovate 360, at every product touch point and in every size and form, from the smallest details to breakthrough innovations.
What we do
There are many ways to facilitate innovation, but the basic principles are simple: assemble a diversified group of people (clients, consumers, our own team, all types if creative types, some anti-types, etc.), set some game rules (like no idea is a bad idea), and start. And have fun while you're at it.
To put some order in the chaos and to make the process even more productive, we use some ideation methodologies that include any mix of any of the following:
- User scenarios, profiles, and lifestyles
- Lead user research
- Competitive, complementary, substitute product surveys
- Cross-industry, cultural, technology analogies
- Mapping stakeholders needs and wants with requirements
- Systematic innovation methods
- Personas and other group-thinking/brainstorming facilitation techniques
- Rapid prototyping
