Shimon SHMUELI, IDSA

Shimon's expertise is in design for experience: bringing together his wide-scope of professional education and experience (engineering, marketing, and design) and approach (holistic thinking, creativity, leadership and collaboration), to create products that deliver great experiences at all touch point, 360, from the strategic level down to the "byte and notch" product details.

Before founding Touch360, Shimon was with IBM, where he held leadership positions in marketing, division-level business/technology strategies, and new product development and design. His most recent roles at IBM were worldwide marketing segment manager for PC products, worldwide product manager for the ThinkPad line of consumer notebooks and accessories, and leading the development of new mobile platforms. While at IBM Shimon led innovations in many areas - among them were the creation of the USB Flash Drive product category, the IBM UltraPort, home servers and media center, and integration of services and products. He was a member of corporate task forces in the areas of competitive strategies, product design, and e-commerce.

Shimon was a co-founder and CTO at KeyNetica, a company that pioneered the use of the USB Flash Drive as a mobile platform. He also served as a marketing and business strategy consultant and as adjunct professor at George Mason University where he taught graduate marketing.

Shimon holds an engineering degree from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology; an MSEE/CS degree from Polytechnic in New York; and an MBA from Wake Forest University. Always a student, he is currently pursuing graduate studies in product design at North Carolina State University's College of Design. Always a teacher, he is an Adjunct Professor at Elon University where he teaches consumer behavior and marketing research.

Shimon has been a speaker and mentor in various forums, among them Guangzhou Academy of Fine arts, Taiwan Design Center, Johns Hopkins University, Virginia Tech School of Architecture & Design, ICSID/IDSA World Design Congress, PDMA, and others. He is a professional member of IDSA, IEEE, DMI, and PDMA. At PDMA Shimon was the founding President of the Washington DC chapter and Director of New Chapters.
